I know, my post on IG when I announced my retirement, things were left a bit vague. I would like to now take the time to explain better, and answer some of the questions in one spot so I can refer people to these answers
Why did I retire?
Well, as some may know, I am enrolled 18 units a term in an Honors College Doing a joint degree called a 3+3 where I am combining my undergraduate honors degree with a Juris Doctorate. Basically, I am pursuing becoming a lawyer so as to join the fight for cannabis rights and sensible laws as a legal professional. I am now living in campus housing, and one of the conditions to not destroy all the hard work I'm doing, and destroy my full ride was that I must give up flowering cannabis in my home.
So, when I say I retired, what I truly meant was I am no longer working any new lines, making new stock, flowering, or breeding, for at least the next 5 years.
So, what does that mean for DFG?
Well, I have 15 years' worth of stock in my fridge from all the projects I've already created. This work is not going to just be allowed to die in my fridge, So I will still be working with testers, with clone labs, and with friends to get things through testing, and to release. I will be working to update the website as I release new things. I also have dropped my prices, which some may have already been noticing. My oldest stock will be going for low prices on the website and my newer releases will be going for less. I know the economy isn't what it used to be, and with me working as hard as I am in other areas of life, my turn around time with orders won't be as fast as it used to be, so it felt right to lower the prices and get things liquidated.
I do still have a few elite moms that I have saved, and will be gearing up to offer as clones, until I have any inspections or campus Maintenace etc needing to come into my home...
These include
Cherry Pie, Cherry Mac Moonshine, Deathstar, Maui Skunk dog, Headband, Fire OG, Pinesoul Goji Og, Blackberry Moonshine Bx1, Haole Moonshine #3, Modified Macberry Moonshine.
I also plan to do a new style of testing where I pop the seeds myself, sort through the females and males, and offer for a low price, cuts for testers to run and report back on. More details will come about that.
What about your discord server? IG? Website?
All of these I plan to keep up and keep as active as time permits. Obviously with 18 units of school, life, and other responsibilities, I will be harder to get ahold of, and harder to dedicate massive time to each of these platforms, but I will very much still be around. The website will still be update, discord is remaining active, and IG, well IG will be what IG is...a shit show of constantly deleted posts and shadow bans.
What about the collection of seeds you have gotten from other breeders?
This is one area that I do plan to liquidate. I have acquired quite a collection in trades, and from other breeders. I will be making a section of the website that will be dedicated to selling these off. I won't be able to grow them myself, and its better it be out in the world then dying in my fridge.
What comes next?
Well, I am already 1 year down of 6...so...5 years of intense schooling, then hopefully I will be working in the court system, fighting the drug war in a difference avenue, for growers, as a grower who understands how the system is failing us. I likely will need to get some trial experience / cut my teeth as a "baby" lawyer, but that's the plan. I know I have seen countless examples where the law has been used to harm, and so many instances of injustice, or stupidity from a regulatory agency that has no clue about how growers live, work, or the struggle. Life called me to do more, so I'm giving it a shot!
