Welcome 2025...DFG updates

Writer's picture: Jeff Jeff

As we dive into the new year, it's hard to avoid the typical "new year, new me" posts. In a way, this post could certainly be seen as one of those, though with a deeper reflection. Pursuing a law degree in my middle age has undoubtedly been one of the most challenging and rewarding chapters of my life. When I first started college, I was determined that I could balance everything—juggling law school, running my business, and maintaining a semblance of personal life. I thought I could do it all, and do it all perfectly. While this kind of optimism is valuable, it has proven to be a difficult standard to maintain.

What I've learned along the way is that there are only so many hours in the day and, unfortunately, only one of me. As much as I try to keep all the balls in the air, I’ve realized that there simply isn’t enough of me to go around. I’ve found myself struggling to keep up with emails, direct messages, and fulfilling orders at the speed I once could—especially when comparing it to the efficiency of places like Amazon!

Retiring from creating new lines has lightened my schedule somewhat, but the reality is that my upcoming transition to first-year law school this September will require an even greater focus. In order to achieve my long-term goal of becoming the cannabis lawyer I aspire to be, I understand now that I need to make a greater short-term sacrifice. This means that this summer, I will have to take my website offline and enter a deeper phase of retirement.

While it’s a tough decision, I know that stepping away fully for now is necessary in order to fully immerse myself in law school and eventually advocate for our community in the way I envision. Though I hope to find a balance after law school, this is the time for me to dedicate myself to this path.

The hardest part about this decision is thinking of my seeds sitting unused in the fridge, with the potential to simply fade away. So, before I take this step back, I will be offering some of my best lines at great deals, hoping that my legacy can live on in your gardens rather than fade away in my fridge. I don’t have an exact end date for DFG just yet, but I will keep you all updated. Thank you for your support as I take this next step.
